4. Haliç Goldenhorn Uluslararası Film Festivali’nde Ödüller Sahiplerini Buldu
Organized by Fotofilm Culture Art and Ansam Culture Association and realized with the contributions of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, the 4th International Haliç Goldenhorn Film Festival met with moviegoers at Beyoğlu Cinema between December 2-7, 2024. The night, which was attended by the founding president of the festival Mehmet Oflazoğlu, the festival director and the award night presenter Assoc. Prof. Dr. Begüm Aylin Önder, was attended by jury members, producers, directors, actors and moviegoers.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, IMM Culture, Istanbul Arel University Faculty of Communication and Dean of Students organized a film screening and talks at IMM Beyoğlu Cinema. A selection of 85 films from 30 countries in the categories of Feature Fiction, Short Fiction, Documentary Feature, Documentary Short, Experimental Short, Animated Short and Screenplay were watched. All events were open to the public and free of charge.
Speaking at the opening, Mehmet Oflazoğlu emphasized the festival’s role in cinema’s intercultural interaction, saying, “We brought 85 films from 30 countries together with the audience at the fourth Haliç Goldenhorn Film Festival this year. We gave awards in seven different categories in feature, short, documentary, animation and experimental categories. Our aim is to bring together the different colors of world cinema in the heart of Istanbul and offer young filmmakers the opportunity to express themselves.” Assoc. Prof. Dr. Begüm Aylin Önder drew attention to the power of cinema in storytelling, saying, “This festival allows stories from different geographies to come together in a common language. Cinema is a powerful art form that removes borders and connects us to each other.”
The festival's visual personality was designed by Manolya Keşre, while Nazire Alaca undertook the digital communication and social media coordination. In addition, Kaya Erdem Yılmaz, Zeynep Asude Atalay, Orhan Sarp Özkan, Ahmet Taha Koca, Kübra Günal and Zehra Özkan, Sueda Şentürk, Ceyhun Öztürk, Nüveyba Sare Köksal, Aleyna Yılmaz, Gökalp Çiftçi, Sadiye Didar Kılıç, Yağmur Bayansaldız from Istanbul Arel University made a great effort at every stage of the organization.
Jury Members and Evaluation Process
The jury members of the festival's awards were composed of names from the world of cinema: The Feature Film Jury included Serdar Akar (President), Korhan Bozkurt, Metin Güngör, Sadullah Şentürk, Aydın Bulut, Mete Şener, Ali İlhan, while the Short Film Film Jury included Ahmet Ilgaz, Emin Önder, Nurten İnan. The Documentary Jury, chaired by Orhan Tekeoğlu, also included Serdar Güven, Igor Toholj. The Academic Jury Members of the Festival included Prof. Dr. Ömer Alanka, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Köprü, Assist. Prof. Rahime Akikol, Assist. Prof. Bahar Atmaca Demir, Assist. Prof. Murat Şahin, Assist. Prof. Recep Çökerdenoğlu, Res. Asst. While Hatice Öksüz was present, the pre-juries of the festival consisted of Abdulkadir Büyükbingöl, Fatma Güngörer, Fırat Koç, Hakan Yüksel, Mehmet Özdemir, Oğuzhan Öztay, Sefer Darıcı, Taylan Maral and Ülhak Çimen.
